IELTS - Scores and Interpretation

Band scores are recorded on a Test Report Form, showing overall ability and performance in all 4 module.

There are 9 band scores, from Band 1 - Non-User (essentially no ability to use the language beyond a few isolated words) to Band 9 - Expert User ( has full, operational command of the language, accurate and fluent with complete understanding).

To achieve an Overall Band Score of 6.0 or 6.5 , you need to be competent in all 4 modules at a higher level than that of an SPM credit.

There is NO PASS for IELTS

You score shows your proposal institution of study, how good your command of English is and how much tuition you may need before you begin your course.

For Australia-bound students here, the IDP offices throughout Malaysia could tell you what IELTS scores are required for entrance to various schools and universities in Australia.

Results can be obtained within 13 days of testing.
