The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is a research-intensive university, committed to rigorous scholarship, innovative education, technological research, cultural growth, and entrepreneurial creativity. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 17 to 1 and an average class size of 27, classes are small enough to enable close interaction between the faculty and the students as well as enabling a wealth of hands-on research opportunities.

UAH offers 61 degree-granting programs to its 6,000 undergraduate and 1,600 graduate students, including 30 bachelor's, 18 master’s and 13 doctoral programs. The International Student and Scholar Office provides scholarly support and information about immigration, visas and life in the Unites States to students from 80 countries, comprising about 7.5% of the student body. The 376-acre UAH campus is located in northwest Huntsville in Cummings Research Park, which is home to more than 250 companies which, along with the nearby NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, provide excellent research and internship possibilities for students. Huntsville is a thriving, growing cosmopolitan city with many opportunities to enjoy culture and recreation.
